HORIZONS STORY

Horizons Background
During the deepest Wasatch winter of 22-23, I began sewing tote bags, packs and completing simple gear repair for Alta locals.
After many prototypes, testing and sending packs on various alpine missions, we came up with a few staple designs which you can find in our shop.
We strive to create simple, durable packs that are light but yet strong.
We use UHMWPE fibers (non-branded Dyneema) which are the lightest and strongest fibers commercially available, with a tensile strength 15x stronger than steel.
This gives our packs a superior feel - all whilst being hand sewn here in Alta, UT.

Materials & Craftsmanship
Our packs are built from incredibly lightweight, abrasion resistant, hydrophobic, UV & chemical resistant & cut / tear resistant. We are sustainable and durable materials which include the following:
All of our Cordura is Truelock:
"Every 250,000 linear meters of fabric made of CORDURA TrueLock™ Fabric can save more than 467,00 liters of water, 408,000 mega joules of energy and 26,845 kilograms of CO2"
Cordura can be found in our Pika & Gear totes.
Challenge Sail Cloth:
Our hip packs & gear totes use Challenge ECOPAK™ is the world’s only durable and waterproof fabric made from 100% recycled polyester fiber and film. Each yard upcycles about 20 plastic water bottles into durable technical textiles.
90% of our packs are made using ULTRA Weave,
UHMWPE fibers (non-branded Dyneema) are the lightest and strongest fibers commercially available, with a tensile strength 15x stronger than steel. UHMWPE is created by a gel-spun extrusion process which draws out extremely long chains of polyethylene, aligned along a molecular backbone. This alignment effectively transfers load through the fiber for high modulus and strength.
